Lena DiCeglio Mazzie

Former employee of Lang’s

Lena DiCeglio Mazzie, more commonly known as “Aunt Lee” or “Manny,” 93, of Washington, went home to be with her Lord Thursday morning, January 16, 2014, following a 15-month illness.

She was born June 6, 1920, in Akron, Ohio, a daughter of the late Gennaro and Rose DiCeglio.

Mrs. Mazzie was retired from Lang’s, where she was its No. 1 saleswoman for several years.

Family and church were her life. She was a charter member of Christian Church of North America and loved her Lord with all her heart. Most of her life was spent going to church and church functions, visiting the sick and serving dinner to and spending time with family and friends. She was known as the church hugger and for her generosity and compassion for others.

Her favorite hobbies were shopping and buying gifts for her grandchildren and others.

On June 6, 1954, she married Samuel Mazzie, who died November 25, 1988.

Surviving are a daughter, Jacki Mazzie (Rob) Berk, and a son, Gary Mazzie, both of Washington; two grandchildren, Codi Berk and Jesse Berk, both of Washington; two brothers, Joe (Connie) DiCeglio of Akron and Orlando (Dolores) DiCeglio of Lakeland, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Frank DiCeglio and Michael DiCeglio, and a sister, Mimi DiCeglio Damato.

Friends will be received from 12:30 to 2:30 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, with her son-in-law, Pastor Rob Berk, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
