Gayle Ann Yarbor

Washington native was alcohol counselor
Gayle Ann Yarbor, 58, was born December 29, 1955, Washington, and her Lord dispatched his angel of mercy to gently close her eyes and grant everlasting peace January 14, 2014, in Tracy, Calif.
She was the second eldest child of Ulysses and Anna May Yarbor. With fond recollections and memories, she leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Anna May of Washington; sisters Carla Payne and Andrea Yarbor of Fresno, Calif. and Apryl Yarbor of Tracy; a brother, Rodney Yarbor of Washington; nephews Aaron and Marcus Payne; a niece, Alycia Yarbor; and a great-nephew, Kayden Hildebrand.
Also cherishing her memories are many extended family members and beloved friends.
Miss Yarbor was a graduate of Washington Junior-Senior High School in 1974. She lived and worked in Cleveland, Ohio, for several years, moving to San Diego, Calif., in 1986 and remaining on the West Coast, most recently in Tracy and Stockton, Calif. She received an associate’s degree from Delta College in Stockton and a certificate for drug and alcohol counselor from the University of Pacific in Stockton, which led to her employment as an alcohol counselor at Valley Counseling in Tracy and Manteca, Calif., for the past 13 years. She worked with the public with integrity and hope, knowing she could make a difference. She was good at her job, loving some of the unlovable people she encountered.
Several years ago, she made a decision to change her life and live for God, knowing God was always with her. She most recently attended church at Valley Ministries in Stockton.
She enjoyed taking long walks on the beach, dancing, cooking, baking and listening to good music, especially smooth jazz.
Miss Yarbor was deceased by her father, Ulysses, and a brother, Ronald.
She also leaves behind her beloved pet dog, Yassa.
Donations to Valley Ministries or Hospice of San Joaquin, both of Stockton, are welcome.
