Clarksville homemaker enjoyed The Meadows

Helen Marie Salko, 83, of Clarksville, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2014, in Washington Hospital, with her family by her side. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Southminster Place, Washington.

Mrs. Salko was born March 24, 1930, in Fayette County, a daughter of Katherine and Michael Kuzlinski.

She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Clarksville, and its Christian Mothers.

On November 13, 1948, she married Robert F. Salko, who died May 7, 2009.

She was a homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed bowling, square dancing, the Vestaburg senior citizen bus trips, and visiting The Meadows casino.

She was known for her homemade berry pies, breads, pierogies and nut rolls.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda (Larry) Lanch of Washington; two sons, Robert S. Salko of Houston and Richard (Jeanette) Salko of Canonsburg; four grandchildren, Todd Lanch of Washington, Trisha (Craig) Eten of Ryland Heights, Ky., Jessica Salko of Washington and Grant (Ashley) Salko of Brookline; great-grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Lanch, and Anderson Eten; and a brother, Stanley Kuzlinski of Dry Tavern.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a sister, Wanda Kuzlinski, who died in the Chartiers tornado of 1944; a sister, Harriet Prunkard of Lincoln Park, Mich.; a brother, Joseph Kuzlinski of Hartford, Conn.; and a brother, Andrew Kuzlinski of Clarksville.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. The public is invited to attend a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, January 20, in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Clarksville. Interment will be private and held at the family’s convenience.

Should one desire, donations may be made in her memory to St. Thomas Catholic Church, 30 Main Street, Clarksville, PA 15322-2000.
