Made everyone smile and laugh

William H. “Smitty” Smith, 61, went to be with his Lord on January 22, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born January 29, 1952, in Canonsburg, a son of James and Ethel Bodnar Smith.

On January 20, 1972, he married Pam Williams, who survives. They had a loving 42-year marriage.

Also surviving are two daughters, who will always be his little girls, Shelley (Brad) Redlin of Adrian, Mich., and Jamie (Gary) Anderson of Clinton, Mich. He also had four beautiful grandchildren, who will love and miss their “Papa” very much, William Redlin, Chase Redlin, Haley Anderson and Hunter Anderson.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith graduated from Canon-McMillian High School and Washington Institute of Technology.

He owned and operated Smith’s Heating and Air Conditioning for more than 30 years.

Mr. Smith loved spending time with family, racing cars when he was younger, driving his 1967 Barracuda and taking it to car shows, fishing, hunting, shooting BB guns with his grandson Will, teasing all the grandkids and making everyone smile and laugh with his sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Smith; a sister, Sharon Gillentine; and a nephew, Brian Gillentine.

Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date, when his wife recovers from an illness.

Condolences can be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, Michigan.
