William L. Sturm

Served his country as U.S. Army Sergeant
William L. Sturm, 80, of North Strabane Township, formerly of Peters Township, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014, with his family by his side.
He was the loving husband of Carol Sturm and the son of Ralph DeWeese Sturm and Frieda Pape Sturm.
He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., July 27, 1933. On August 18, 1957, he married Carol Johnson Sturm, and they enjoyed 56 years of their lives together.
Also surviving are three daughters, Tracy (Jeff) Kaier, Robin (Michael) Amuso and Kelly (Harry) Talbert; his great friend and brother-in-law Mike (Pam) Johnson; his seven cherished grandchildren, Matt, Aaron (Courtney) and Nick Amuso, Hanna and Jeremy Kaier, and Abby and Alex Talbert; and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Emery and Sydney.
Mr. Sturm served his nation as a U.S. Army Sergeant First Class during the Korean War, and was honored with the National Defense Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal. He received his Eagle Scout Award, was a 1959 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College and served as president of Peters Township School Board.
He was a wonderful husband, father, brother-in-law, friend and the best grandfather. He will be forever missed.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cremation and Funeral Care in McMurray. A service will be held at Center Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 29. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.
