Sara Ann Gavazzi, 71, of Scenery Hill, died Sunday, January 26, 2014, in the home of her daughter in Amherst, Ohio.
She was born June 25, 1942, in Charleroi, a daughter of the late Manual and Mary Perez.
Mrs. Gavazzi was a 1961 graduate of Mon Valley Catholic High School and a graduate of the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy.
For several years, she worked as a hairdresser and later owned and operated Kountry Korners, a craft shop in Scenery Hill, for 26 years and was a participating vendor in the Houston Pumpkin Festival for 15 years. She also was employed by Fox’s Pizza in Bentleyville for 15 years.
Mrs. Gavazzi enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and particularly enjoyed attending any event in which her grandchildren participated.
She attended Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane Gavazzi Medve (Steven) of Amherst; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Steven and Helena Medve, all of Amherst; a sister, Patricia Gamble of Charleroi; a brother, Robert Perez of Hickory; her longtime companion, Charles Myers, of Scenery Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Diane Marie Perez, and a brother, Robert Richard Perez.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 1, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in Ave Maria Roman Catholic Church, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas as celebrant. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
