Former Avella resident

Lois Irene Ezarik, 85, of Jacksonville, Ark., formerly of Avella, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, in St. Vincent North Hospital, Sherwood, Ark.

She was born October 29, 1928, in Avella, a daughter of the late Daniel A. and Martha I. Kuhns Strope.

Mrs. Ezarik was a 1945 graduate of Avella High School.

She lived in Louisiana for several years with her husband until they returned to Avella in 1990. While living in Louisiana, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Houma.

Mrs. Ezarik worked at Meadowcroft Village in Avella for six years.

On August 11, 1948, in West Middletown, she married Albert J. Ezarik, who died April 23, 2005.

Surviving are four sons, Alan (Beth) Ezarik of Tulsa, Okla., David (Michelle) Ezarik of Southlake, Texas, Mark (Janet) Ezarik of San Francisco, Calif., and Gary (Allegra) Ezarik of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna “Sally” Strope of San Antonio, Texas, and Thelma (Phil) Kaniatobe of Tulsa.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a brother, Daniel Strope, and two sisters, Patricia Fusarelli and Shirley McManus.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., located at 18 Campbell Street, Avella, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 3, with Pastor Fran Skariot officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Avella.
