Korean War Navy and Marine medic
Paul M. Jones Jr., 82, of Finleyville died Monday March 3, 2014, at the Center for Compassionate Care in Mt. Lebanon.
He was born May 27, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of Paul and Emma Inman Jones.
Mr. Jones was retired as a broker with Nationwide Insurance Company. He served as a medic in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of Library Baptist Church in Finleyville.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Volkar Jones; a son, Mark (Patti) Jones of Lakeland, Fla.; four daughters, Janice (George Stowers) Jones of Tampa, Fla., Deborah Callender of Punxsutawney, Judith Lynn Oestreich of New Wilmington and Johanna (Rob) Ewing of Bethel Park; a brother, Robert Jones of Eighty Four; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Richard Jones, and a son-in-law, Dane Oestreich.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Library Baptist Church, Finleyville, with Pastor Ken Barner officiating. Interment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military rites accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
