Private pilot served in U.S. Army

Herman W. Lazzari, 81, of Waynesburg, formerly of Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the home of his daughter, Laurie.

He was born September 6, 1932, in Belle Vernon, a son of the late Armando and Dorothy Treater Lazzari.

Mr. Lazzari had resided in Waynesburg for the past 35 years. He was a member of Waynesburg American Legion Post 330.

For more than 20 years, he had been the owner of Lazzari Instrumentation, retiring in 1997.

A private pilot, flying airplanes was one of his great passions. He was an avid fisherman.

He served with the U.S. Army in Korea.

Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Laurie Lazzari-Charnack and companion Glen Halt of Belle Vernon, Lydia and Carl Zanardini of Stockdale, Lisa and Tony Strasiser of Hooversville and Liane and Thomas Churney of Paw Paw, Mich.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris and Tom Barruso of Pittsburgh and Elaine Smith of Monessen; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Drissey Lazzari of Belle Vernon; eight grandchildren, Lex and Toby Charnack, Max, Tony and Gus Strasiser, Lee and Laci Zanardini and Abbey Churney; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Johann Lazzari of Stockdale.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, March 8, in Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, with Father Kua Apple officiating. www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com
