Flora Catherine Lucy Amos

Flora Catherine “Kitty” Lucy Amos, 87, of Bentleyville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, December 1, 2017.

She was born December 14, 1929, in Ellsworth, a daughter of the late George and Ethel Bosley Lucy.

Mrs. Amos was 1948 graduate of Ellsworth High School.

In addition to being dedicated to her family and children, she was very active in her church and community. She was a lifelong member of Bentleyville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women, a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher, Mother’s Timeout teacher and member of Washington County Lay Ministry, Washington County United Methodist Women and Christian Parenthood.

Surviving are two sons, Louis K. (Jeanette) Amos Jr. and Lorne “Mark” Amos, both of Ellsworth; four daughters, Connie M. (Earlo) Harris of Warren, Mich., Cathy A. (Ed) Meredith of Bentleyville, Carol L. (Buddy) Richardson of Bentleyville and Cynthia E. (Greg) Gehringer of Lenox, Mich.; four sisters, Lula Mae Metz Johnson of Hopwood, Becky (Buddy) Mesler and Joan (Steve) Weatherford, both of Coal Center, and Janet Shriner of Ellsworth; two brothers, Joseph Lucy of Ellsworth and Charles Lucy McCann of Florida; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Louis K. Amos, who died January 7, 1996; an infant daughter, Bonnie L. Amos; a nephew, Daniel E. Hess, whom she raised; twin sisters, Luella and Luaine Carroll; a sister, Patty Carroll; three brothers, Edward, Ronald and David Lucy; and four infant grandchildren, Gabriel L. Wilson, Mark Amos, Terry Hess and Zia Chambers.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, with the Rev. Barbara Bailey officiating. Internment will be in Monongahela Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
