Angela D. Arnold

Angela D. Arnold, 82, of Houston, died Friday, December 1, 2017, in her home, following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 2, 1935, in Flint, Mich., a daughter of John Sheick and Ruth Elizabeth Sheick Tanner.

Mrs. Arnold was a 1952 graduate of West Branch (Mich.) High School. She went on to earn a degree in accounting from Baker University in Flint.

She worked in her field, first at General Motors Fisher Body Division in Grand Blanc, Mich.

After marrying Robert S. Arnold on December 6, 1955, she moved to Houston, where she worked at Home Furniture in Canonsburg and then at Mobay Chemical for over five years. In 1967, she became secretary and treasurer of the family business, Arnold Pontiac-GMC Inc. Later, she served as secretary and treasurer of API Leasing Corp., Tri-State GMC and Patsch Dodge. She remained active in the family business until her death.

Mrs. Arnold was an avid gardener and Pittsburgh sports enthusiast, especially the Steelers and Penguins.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Surviving are her husband, Bob; three children, Ruth May Zarger (Tony) of Rochester Hills, Mich., Shirley White (David) of Boomer, N.C., and Robert Arnold (Kim) of Chartiers Township; seven grandchildren, Jonathan and Rachael Zarger, Joshua White, Emily White Shumate, Daja Durkacs and Shannon and Austin Arnold; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Addison and Maddox Durkacs and Dexter Demian; two sisters, Nancy Burt (Bill) of St. Clair, Mo., and Linda Stowell of South Lyon, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are three sisters, Carol Schuhmacher, Sharon Bunting and Arlene Smith, and her stepfather, Lawrence T. Tanner.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, with the Rev. Emily Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Presbyterian Church, 102 North Main Street, Houston, PA 15342, or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611, or at pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
