Harry A. McCurry Jr.
Harry A. McCurry Jr., 81, of King William, Va., went to be with his Lord Thursday, November 30, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife of 62 years, Lauretta McCurry; a son, Boyd McCurry; and three siblings.
Surviving are five children, Keith McCurry, Mike McCurry (Jill), Tracie Ambrose (Ron), Cathy Moon-Martin (Maurk) and Steve McCurry (Erika); 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Bob, Eileen, Kitty and Frank; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. McCurry retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam.
He earned a master’s degree in education from Virginia State University and was a beloved teacher at King William High School for many years.
Mr. McCurry had many affiliations in his community, including Knights of Columbus, veterans associations and being very active in his church. He was a devout Catholic and truly dedicated to his family.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, Va. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, in Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. Interment will follow in Hanover Memorial Park, Mechanicsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Church of the Redeemer, Mechanicsville.
