Stanley J. Reichel Sr.

Stanley J. Reichel Sr., 91, of New Eagle, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, in The Greenery Specialty Care Center, Canonsburg.

He was born March 4, 1926, in Avella, a son of Stanley and Anna Oprosky Reichel.

After being stationed in the Southern Pacific on the USS Sepulga in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Reichel returned home and began working as a fireman for Donora-Southern Railroad Co. until the closing of the Donora mill. He retired in the mid-1970s as a driver for Schneider’s Dairy.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Steelers play.

Surviving are two sons, Stanley J. Reichel Jr. of Monongahela and Paul J. Reichel of New Eagle; a brother, Al and wife Bertha Reichel of Monongahela; four grandchildren, Justin (Jamie), Nicole Marie, Charles (Rebecca) and Christopher (Sara) Reichel; and three great-grandchildren, Victoria, Eric and Finley Grace Reichel.

Deceased are his wife, Helen Selinsky Reichel, who died January 5, 2012; a brother, Joseph Reichel; and two sisters, Rita Marie Popovich and Marcella Skurski.

A graveside service in Monongahela Cemetery will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mon-Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad, 438 Alexander Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.
