Claude Knight King

Claude Knight King, 91, of Greensboro, N.C., went peacefully to his heavenly reward Monday, December 4, 2017.

He was born October 15, 1926, in Greensboro.

Mr. King was a graduate of Guilford College and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Deceased are his first wife of 37 years, Margueritte Flower King; his parents, Carl and Ethel King; two brothers, Charles King and Paul King; and a sister, Gladys King.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Richards (Steve) of Buford, Ga., and Cynthia Transue (Chris) of Binghamton, N.Y.; a sister, Peggy Greeson (Dean) of Whitsett, N.C.; three grandsons, Don Parnell Jr. (Sue), Richard Parnell (Wendi) and Riley Transue; a granddaughter, Jackie Green (Roger); two great-grandsons, Zachary Parnell and Wade Parnell; two great-granddaughters, Astraea Roberts and Madeleine Roberts; three nieces and nephews, Terry King (Frances), Gail Ellis (Mac) and Amy Greeson; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. King was blessed to find love a second time in his life and married Laura Konecheck of Avella in 2003. He was embraced by her family and is survived by Laura; her son, Mark Konecheck (Jackie); her daughter, Debbie Sweder; five grandsons, Josh Konecheck, Brandon Konechek, Aidan Konecheck, Scott Sweder and Shaun Sweder; two granddaughters, Chanel Dembiski (Adam) and Kathleen Lapina; three great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends in celebration of his life from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, December 7, in Forbis and Dick Funeral Service, 1118 North Elm Street, Greensboro, Thursday, December 7. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. King may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405, or to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.

Mr. King’s extended family at Carriage House Senior Living Community and Options for Senior America provided him with kind and compassionate care.
