Donald R. Broadwater, 88, of Jefferson, died Monday, December 4, 2017, in his home, surrounded by family.

He was born September 14, 1929, in Isabelle, a son of the late Charles and Emma Hamilton Broadwater.

Mr. Broadwater was a retired coal miner, having worked at Mather Collieries and retiring from Eastern Coal Association Co., Federal No. 2 mine.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He and was a life member of American Legion Post 954, Jefferson, and Masonic Lodge 153, F&AM, Waynesburg.

On February 11, 1950, he married Marjorie E. Huffman, who survives.

Also surviving are four children, Francine R. Broadwater of Wheeling, W.Va., David R. Broadwater and wife Nancy of Jefferson, Charles A. Broadwater and wife Lori of Rices Landing and Gary S. Broadwater and wife Colleen of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Travis J. Broadwater, Cameron R. Broadwater, Natalie E. Broadwater, Zachary A. Broadwater, Brittany A. Broadwater and Jacob A. Broadwater; and four great-grandchildren, Winston J. Broadwater, Alexandria E. Broadwater, Penelope R. Broadwater and Eleanor R. Broadwater.

Deceased are six siblings, Edward Broadwater, Eugene Broadwater, Charles Broadwater, LeRoy Broadwater, Ruth Duke and Wallace “Pete” Broadwater.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 7, with the Rev. John R. Dorean officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 954, Jefferson.
