Eleanor J. “Nora” Campagna, 93, of Washington, died Monday, December 11, 2017, at 6:20 p.m. in Donnell House, Washington, following a brief illness.
She was born October 1, 1924, in Benwood, W.Va., a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Provenzano Foglia.
Mrs. Campagna was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed oil painting, sewing and cooking. Even at the age of 90, Mrs. Campagna still wanted to cook spaghetti and meatballs for her family to enjoy.
She loved her new home at Hawthorne Woods and all her friends that she had made there.
Most of all, Mrs. Campagna enjoyed and cherished the times that she spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On June 19, 1949, she married Charles A. “Chuck” Campagna Sr., who died August 14, 2017.
She is survived by two daughters, Marie E. (Jim) Gouirand of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Joyce A. (Austin) Lee of Washington; one son, Charles A. (Beth) Campagna Jr. of Lancaster; two sisters, Joan Calabro of Washington and Sharon Fonner of Windermere, Fla.; six grandchildren, Angela (Corey) Heidkamp of Arlington Heights, Ill., Christina (Matt) King of York, Christopher Lee of Washington, Matthew Campagna of Cleveland, Ohio, Jeffrey Campagna of Annville and Peter Campagna of Lancaster; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan King of York, Nathanael King of York, Marc Heidkamp of Arlington Heights and Eleanor Heidkamp of Arlington Heights; and a sister-in-law and dear friend, Gertrude “Gertie” Sten. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her mother, father and husband, Mrs. Campagna was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Foglia; a sister, Angela Sonson; and a dear friend, Katherine Golaski.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, December 16, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with Father Carmen D’Amico as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
