Mark Jon Delaney, 70, of New Eagle, died Monday, December 11, 2017, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born August 15, 1947, a son of Francis “Fritz” and Marie Yatchyshen Delaney.

He retired after over 40 years of employment from Ringgold School District as a custodian in Finley Middle School, and he was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela.

He had a passion for boating and was a member of United States Power Squadron. He and his wife, Joyce, enjoyed traveling the United States in their RV and also extensively traveling abroad. He loved airplanes. He and his buddy flew out of the Rostraver Airport for joy rides as well as to go to out-of-state restaurants to get a bite to eat. If he was not in the air, he was on the water.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Staffen Delaney, with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage November 13, 2017; two stepchildren, Jaime Riili and Regina Shuback Morris and husband Neil, all of Finleyville; stepdaughter-in-law Patty Pust of Monongahela; and stepgrandchildren Nichole Riili and Christina Pust.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Glenn Pust.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Funeral prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, December 15, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Damien of Molokai Church with the Rev. William Terza, pastor as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
