Patrick Leo Larkin, of North Strabane Township, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly Monday, December 11, 2017, with his family at his side.
He was born in Pittsburgh on May 3, 1954, a son of the late Leo and Geraldine Miller Larkin.
He graduated from Bethel Park High School and, while attending, he met his wife, Deb. They married September 26, 1975. His love of life was known to all who met him as he had an adventurous spirit. He had many loves that he conquered. Of those, he loved to drive fast cars and ride motorcycles, which included riding his Harley across country numerous times and taking his coupe to car shows. He had a desire for history that he shared with his son, Mike, and together they were members of the 140th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry re-enactment unit. He was an extra in the movie “Gods and Generals” and as a living historian and former scoutmaster of Troop 1373, the boys became his sons as he took them to Gettysburg several times. He was proud of all his Eagle Scouts, especially his son, Mike.
He was passionate about his family, and one of the happiest moments of his life was when his first child, Nicole, was born. They had a special bond like no other. As she said, he was a father who did not tell her how to live; he lived and let her watch him live life. He loved being a Pap Pap to his grandson, Kyle, and was so looking forward to the birth of Baby Olivia this spring.
Left to cherish his memory are his best friend and wife of 42 years, Deborah; a daughter, Nicole (Tanny) Deliere; a son, Michael (Luca); grandson Kyle Patrick Deliere; and his grandpups, Elvis and Opie. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Lydia Nagy Doleno; sisters-in-law Lori (William) Wasko and Cheryl (Stanley) Nedzesky; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Friends and family are welcome to gather in a casual setting to celebrate his life from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, December 16, in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211, where a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
He was an avid reader and, in lieu of flowers, loved ones are asked to donate to the Civil War Trust, 1140 Professional Court, Hagerstown, MD, or give a book to Frank Sarris Public Library, East Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA.
