Priscilla Smith, 78, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Friday, December 1, 2017, in Osborn Honor Health Hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 7, 1939, in Pittsburgh, the eldest daughter of the late Archie and Eleanor Bolden.
She and Herbert moved to California state in 1978, and their children soon followed, one by one.
They both retired to Scottsdale in 1995.
She was nicknamed “Sookie.” She loved talking, watching Westerns and “Wheel of Fortune” and was a natural at giving good advice. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed shopping, vacationing and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of Herbert Smith; loving mother of Howard Hackley (Jaqueline Haro) of California state, Ronea Girten (Benjamin) of Arizona, Dorothy Tracey Dixon (Neal) of California state, Andrea Smith Wright (Durand) of California state, and stepdaughter Kim Young of California state; cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a loving sister of Vinnie Boyd and Ronald Bolden; and cherished by many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding in death are her sister, Hester Levine Little, and granddaughter Courtney Ronea Dixon.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home, Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston PA 15324. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
