Mabel Louise “Fritzi” Curtis, 90, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, in Liza’s Place, Wheeling, surrounded by her nieces, Lynn, Kitty, Theresa and Billie Jo Johnston, Kathy Williams and Michelle Strope.
She was born July 31, 1927, in Wheeling, the eldest daughter of the late Anthony and Mabel Kindelberger Wilhelm.
Mrs. Curtis, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
She was retired from McCrory’s and J.C. Penney.
Mrs. Curtis was a member of Third Order of Mary. She also volunteered at Wheeling Hospital and Catholic Charities. She spent many years as sacristan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Claysville and Welty Chapel.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, L. D. Curtis; a sister, Patricia W. Johnston; and two brothers, Adrian and Anthony Wilhelm.
Surviving are two sisters, Arielle Balak of Rochester, Minn., and Donna Strawn of Charleston, W.Va.; a brother, Father H. Joseph Wilhelm, S.M., of Wheeling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., the time of rosary services, Sunday in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, December 18, with Father H. Joseph Wilhelm, S.M., as celebrant. Interment will be held in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Claysville.
