Katherine M. Deep Drakeley, 78, of Washington, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 17, 2017, in Canonsburg Hospital.
She was born November 20, 1939, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Mike and Sarah Deep.
Crocheting, needlepointing and spending time with her dog “Rocky” often brought her greatest joy.
Mrs. Drakeley was a 1959 graduate of Canonsburg High School.
Following high school, she took a job as a secretary for RCA Co. and worked for the company for more than 20 years. She was a licensed cosmetologist and enjoyed making people feel beautiful.
She was an avid Steelers fan and was very active in her church, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, Pittsburgh. Not much would happen in the church without her participation.
On November 11, 1979, in St. George Cathedral, she married James R. Drakeley, who survives.
Surviving are two sisters, Michelle (Wally) Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Avigail Deep of Canonsburg; a brother, Michael (Jean) Deep of Canonsburg; three stepsons, Jim (Carolyn) Drakeley of Dallas, Texas, Thomas (Susan) Drakeley of Washington and Joseph (Helen) Drakeley of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews and stepgrandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, with Father Joshua Makoul as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. George’s Orthodox Cemetery, Bridgeville.
