Edith J. Morris
Edith J. Morris, 103, of Washington, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017, in Premier Washington Health Center.
She was born June 15, 1914, in Smithton, a daughter of Wentzle Nightman and Anna Dietz Nightman.
Mrs. Morris attended Fort Robinson High School in Westmoreland County.
A homemaker, she was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, where she was active with United Methodist Women and also taught kindergarten Sunday school for many years. She was known for telling Bible stories.
Mrs. Morris was active in Cub Scouts as a den mother.
On May 13, 1936, she married John Brooks Morris, who passed away January 7, 1994.
Surviving are a son, James B. Morris of Washington; a daughter, Marjorie A. Morris (Bruce Martin) of Bethel Park; a niece, Janice Wolfe of Washington; a nephew, Daniel (Kathy) Morris of Washington; and additional nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Vincent, Frank and Joseph Nightman, and a sister, Mildred Johnston.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, with Pastor Rand Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
