Charles Edward Boggs, a member of the greatest generation, who proudly served as an U.S. Army Medic in the 79th General Hospital during World War II, and was a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus, passed away December 17, 2017, just shy of his 93rd birthday.

Born in Washington, D.C., he was predeceased by parents Charles and Catherine; brothers William and John (Jack); and much-loved sister Mary Dolores Mattia.

Surviving are his wife, Mary May Oddi Boggs; a daughter, Catherine (Dan) Musselwhite; a son, Michael (Patricia) Boggs; two granddaughters, Laura (Jason) Gagnon and Megan (Matthew Chauvin) Boggs; a stepgranddaughter, Jaime Musselwhite; and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends, all who will remember him with love every time they hear a good joke.

He was also predeceased by his first wife, Julianna Leninsky Boggs.

He would answer to all of his nicknames, “Charlie, Chas, Chuckie and Mr. B.” He was a mentor to many a young person who came into his life, especially those who worked with him at Richman Brothers Men’s Clothing.

To honor his memory, take time to listen to someone who needs to talk. Donations to any charity that enriches the life of a child would be appreciated.

A memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh and Albany at a later date.
