Robert D. Strawn, 67, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 22, 2017.
He was born November 21, 1950, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Paul R. and Ruth Frazee Strawn.
Mr. Strawn was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed photography and music and listened to classic rock, especially The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan.
Mr. Strawn was employed as a psychiatric aide at Woodville State Hospital and then Mayview State Hospital, until his retirement in 2005.
On September 2, 1977, in Washington, he married Mary L. Vojtek, who passed away April 8, 2010.
Surviving are a son, Brian (Danita M. Candler) Strawn of Clayton, Ohio; a granddaughter, Ella Marie Strawn of Greenville, Ohio; two brothers, Raymond (Vicki) Strawn of Canonsburg and Roland Strawn of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are two brothers, Paul R. Strawn and Richard Strawn.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where a eulogy will be provided at 8 p.m. by his son, Brian. Interment will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, December 30, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post 175, Washington. If attending, please meet at the cemetery funeral procession staging area at 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
