Marlene M. Parr Toshok, 84, originally of Canonsburg, recently of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Oakmont, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, in UPMC-St. Margaret, Pittsburgh.
She was born March 3, 1933, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Jack and Mary Steech Parr.
Mrs. Toshok was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg, where she was active with the Ladies Guild.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a dietitian and cook for Head Start.
On June 30, 1956, she married Mike Toshok Jr., with whom she shared over 52 years of marriage before he passed away August 13, 2008.
Mrs. Toshok was an amazing cook and baker. She loved her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Michael Toshok and wife Rita, Kevin Toshok and wife Beverly and David Toshok; and five grandchildren, Rekha, Samantha, Erica, Matthew and Sydney.
Mrs. Toshok was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a brother, Jack Parr; and four sisters, Mary Catherine Weitzel, Irene Kraynak, Dorothy Moore and Martha Parr.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000, with a Liturgy following at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg, with Fr. Joseph Raptosh officiating. A Panachida service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg, PA, in Marlene M. Toshok’s name.
