Michael David McElhaney, 65, of Morgantown, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in his residence.
He was born June 29, 1952, in Washington, a son of the late Harry Bert McElhaney Jr. and Nancy Gayle Grimm McElhaney.
Mr. McElhaney obtained a bachelor of science degree in forestry from West Virginia University and was awarded magna cum laude. He spent his career working for Allegheny Power Co. for 33 years.
He very much enjoyed the outdoors and reading.
Surviving are his children, Rachel Devor and husband Josh and Benjamin McElhaney and wife Caitlin Bennett; their mother, Dawn McElhaney; a grandchild, Quentin Devor; and siblings Sue Sedlitsky and Peggy Baker.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home, Morgantown. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
