Mona Joyce Simmons, 81, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in her home.
She was born September 11, 1936, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Jesse S. and Virginia Mae Bungard Basinger.
On September 16, 1955, she married Robert D. “Donnie” Simmons, who died May 20, 2012.
Mrs. Simmons worked as a nurse’s aide at Greene County Memorial Hospital for 32 years.
She loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Cherry Lynn Simmons of Waynesburg; a brother, Benny Basinger of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Constance “Connie” Watson and five brothers, Edward, Wayne, Charles “Bud,” Richard “Dick” and William “Bill” Basinger.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 18, with the Rev. Paul Roofner officiating, followed by interment in Greene County Memorial Park.
