Andrew J. McGraw
Andrew J. McGraw, 79, of South Fayette, died Friday, November 17, 2017.
He was born March 9, 1938, a son of the late Peter and Bridget McGraw.
Mr. McGraw earned a degree in political science from University of Pittsburgh. He was a three-time All American and co-captain of the soccer team. In his senior year, he was punter for the Pitt football team.
He served five terms in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He sponsored well over 200 pieces of legislation, with at least 64 pieces becoming law. He was responsible for obtaining the transfer of property for Chartiers Valley High School for one dollar.
Mr. McGraw enjoyed golf, real estate, politics and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his beloved former wife, Elaine McGraw; his loving children, Andrew McGraw Jr. (Melissa), Mark McGraw (Terrie), Maureen McGraw-Desmet (Lionel), Michael McGraw (Courtney) and Ryan McGraw (Jesse); nine grandchildren, Adam, Erin, Nicholas, Amanda, Brandon, Megan, Hailey, Owen and Adelyn; a great-grandchild, Hudson; two sisters, Elizabeth Vangysel and Roseann Kotar; his dear friend, Lynn Taucher; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased are two children, Melissa McGraw and Scott Donaldson; four brothers, Peter, William, Thomas and James McGraw; and three sisters, Kathleen Bridge, Etta Balmer and Mary Margaret Shearson.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Warchol Funeral Home, Bridgeville. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, in St. Barbara Church, Bridgeville. Anyone wishing to attend the celebration of life is asked to meet at the church. A reception will follow in Alpine Club, 220 Alpine Road, Bridgeville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611.
