Rudy V. Simonini, 88, of Washington, died Friday, November 24, 2017, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born September 17, 1929, in Arden, a son of Rudolph C. and Mira Antonioli Simonini.
Mr. Simonini retired in 1992 from Washington Post Office.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands, Washington Country Club, Bears Club and American Legion Post 175 in Washington.
Mr. Simonini was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Navy.
His greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters and watching them play soccer. Recently, his focus turned to enjoying his great-grandchildren and watching them grow.
On April 14, 1951, he married Catherine “Kitty” Cox, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Edwin V. (Phyllis) Simonini of Washington; a daughter, Janet L. (John) Maurer of Washington; two brothers, Raymond (Gloria) Simonini of DuBois and James (Karen) Simonini of Houston; a sister, Dolores (William) Cox of Tybee Island, Ga.; four grandchildren, Toni Lynn Merante, Danielle Harshman, Kylie Zaffino and Jaclyn Miranne; four great-grandchildren, Cole, Santino, Reese and Stella.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. Carmen A. D’Amico, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
