JoEllen Tordy
JoEllen “Jodi” Tordy, 60, of Washington, formerly of Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by family.
She was born July 9, 1957, in Charleroi, a daughter of the late Joseph and Eleanor “Elaine” Tordy.
Ms. Tordy was a member of the former St. Luke Lutheran Church in Monessen.
She attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated summa cum laude from Washington & Jefferson College.
Ms. Tordy was a project accountant manager for Shamrock Environmental Services, Browns Summit, N.C.
She was a sports enthusiast, with football as one of her favorites. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her nieces and nephews and doing anything family-oriented. Her love for the outdoors was only matched by the family’s yearly trips to the beach. Disney World was another favorite spot, taking trips with her sister, Terri, and family and having mentioned more than once, “It’s always an adventure.” She will always be remembered for her kind heart, sense of humor and love of animals.
Surviving are her longtime best friend, Patricia (P.J.) Huskey; two sisters, Denise and husband Tom Hornack of Lower Burrell and Terri and husband Kurt Shutterly of Belle Vernon; a brother, Joseph and wife Karen Tordy of Hainesport, N.J.; 10 nieces and nephews, Tom and wife Dana Hornack, Erica and husband Scott Bitar, Seth and wife Nikki Hornack, Kylee Kohler, Kayla and husband Jason McConnell, Joseph and wife Kathleen Tordy, Hillary Tordy and Tyler, Conor and Colby Shutterly; and great-nieces and great-nephews Gabie, Luke, Cooper, Gia, Scotty, Baylin, Baustin, London, Barron, Gemma, Peyton, Faith, Seth, Monroe, Olivia and Hailey.
She also leaves behind her fur babies: two dogs, Sadie and Bella, and four cats, Kami, Kot’n, Muffin and Angel.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
