Violet M. Tofts Kobal, 95, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in Mon Valley Hospital.
Born August 15, 1922, in Halstead, England, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Jessie Draper Tofts.
A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 29 years, Mrs. Kobal was a member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Charleroi. Affectionately known to everyone as “Granny,” she enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, crossword puzzles and gardening.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John K. and Ruth Kobal of Washington Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and A. Roy Anderson of Washington Township and Mary Ann and Philip Turlik of Carroll Township; two grandchildren, Roy Anderson and wife Brandy and Angela Kobal; two great-grandchildren, Cody John Anderson and Brittany Robertson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, John Kobal Jr., who died November 9, 1994; three brothers, Frederick, Jack and Ken Tofts; and a sister, Flo Devereux.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Relatives and friends will gather for services at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 2, in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Belle Vernon, with the Rev. Stephan Gresh of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Monongahela Cemetery.
