Edwin E. Ringer III, 59, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Cattaraugus Creek in Gowanda, N.Y., doing what he loved – fishing.

He was born October 5, 1958, in Washington, a son of Lucille Lagoni Ringer of Hickory and the late Edwin E. Ringer Jr.

Mr. Ringer was a 1976 graduate of Fort Cherry High School.

He was a retired coal miner, working from 1977 until his retirement from Consol Energy in 2016.

Mr. Ringer, along with his wife and sister, owned and operated the business his parents started, Ringer Screenprint in Westland.

He was an avid fisherman and took many fishing trips with family and friends.

On September 20, 1980, he married Rosalie Matesic, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a son, Edwin E. Ringer IV (Caitlin) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Lauren Ringer-Formanes (Vincent) of Brooklyn; a granddaughter, Elliott Wren Ringer; a sister, Debra Ringer of Marianna; mother-in-law Josephine Matesic of Cherry Valley; a brother-in-law, Joseph Matesic Jr. (Marcy) of Cherry Valley; five nephews, Justin Sienkiel (Rachel), Brandon Sienkiel (Cassy), Joseph Matesic III, Zachary Matesic and John Matesic; a niece, Alyssa Matesic; and three great-nephews, Ian and Nolan Sienkiel and Christian Jensen.

Deceased, in addition to his father, are his father-in-law, Joseph Matesic, and a brother-in-law, John Matesic.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, October 27, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
