Francesco Salvatore “Frank” “Wishbone” Scandale, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in Washington Hospital.

He was born January 2, 1938, in San Giovanni-In-Fiore, Italy, Providence of Cosenza, to the late Francesco Scandale and Rosa Maria Marra Scandale.

On June 17, 1961, he married Mary DiSibio, who survives.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and volunteered his time at fish fries and festivals. He was also a member of the Catholic Men’s Club.

His occupation was a gatemaker for Forbes Steel, Canonsburg, until his retirement.

Mr. Scandale volunteered at the food bank in his spare time. He had numerous interests which included gardening, and he was known for his fig trees, wine making, and being a connoisseur of cured meats, all of which he shared with everyone he met.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Rosa M. Few (fiance’ Richard Franks) and Lucia F. Stopenski (David), both of Canonsburg; a sister, Catarina Silletta (Francesco) of Italy; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Scandale of Washington; three grandchildren, Nadia Few, Carina and Maria Stopenski; a niece, Susan McKelvey; two nephews, Frank and Joe Scandale; and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his brothers, Giovanni, Nicola, Raffaelle and Guiseppe Scandale; and a sister, Maria Teresa Cantoni.

Friends are welcome from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
