Dana McClellan Smith, 45, of Scenery Hill, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017, in Donnell House, Washington, after an eight-year battle with cancer.
She was born October 10, 1972, in Washington, a daughter of Worley C. and Kathy Beddow McClellan of Lone Pine, both of whom survive.
She was a 1991 graduate of Trinity High School and graduated in 2005 from California University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
She was employed for eight years by Bentworth School District teaching various grades. She was a devoted teacher, who loved her students like they were her own.
She was a lifelong member of Lone Pine Christian Church, where she taught Bible School
In her spare time, she loved her walks to the pond, spending time with her family, her Chihuahua Mickey and kitten Molly. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, flowers, family, friends, cooking, sports and softball and relaxing on the porch on her swing.
On July 25, 2016, she married Lloyd H. “Smitty” Smith Jr., who survives. He was her faithful and loving husband who was always by her side.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, is a daughter, Ashley Mikolay (Danny) of Scenery Hill; two stepsons, Austin Smith of Mesa, Ariz. and Evan Smith of Scenery Hill; brother Eric McClellan of Washington; maternal grandfather John Beddow of Washington; and four nieces and nephews.
Deceased are maternal grandmother Ruth Beddow and paternal grandparents Charles and Edith McClellan
Friends will be received 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, and from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of services, Monday, October 30, in Lone Pine Christian Church, 582 Lone Pine Road, Washington, PA 15301, with Pastor John Owen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to The Mrs. Claus Club care of Virginia Vasko, 56 Lanik Road, Bentleyville, PA 15314 or Amedisys Hospice, 100 Stoops Avenue, Monongahela, PA 15063.
