Thomas W. Dolan, 81, of Rices Landing, died Friday, October 27, 2017.
He was born February 27, 1936, in Finleyville, a son of the late William C. and Mary A. Myers Dolan.
Mr. Dolan was a 1954 graduate of Clairton High School, attended California University and later became a 1959 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
He began to serve a distinguished 29-year career in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1983 as a chief warrant officer. Over his illustrious military career, he had served with the 18th Airborne, 82nd Airborne, 10th Special Forces, and served in military intelligence with the 402nd Special Operations Detachment. For his service, he was awarded numerous citations and decorations, including the Legion of Merit.
Mr. Dolan was a member of F&AM Lodge of Fayetteville, N.C., Consistory of the Valley of Pittsburgh and Syria Temple.
He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and really enjoyed vacationing on cruise ships.
On November 15, 2009, he married Virginia Meadville Dolan, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Keith Dolan (Rachelle) of Carmichaels and Craig Dolan of Fayetteville; a sister, Edith McCall of Darlington; and three grandchildren, Jessika, Jacob, and Shane Dolan.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, William C. Dolan, and two sisters, Ruth Blatchford, and Harriet Felicity.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, with the Rev. Emerson Williams and the Rev. John Matz co-officiating. Interment will be in Maple Creek Cemetery, Fallowfield Township. Graveside military rites will be accorded by U.S. Army.
