Richard James Yorty, 77, of Washington, died Monday, October 30, 2017, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born November 7, 1939, in Daisytown, a son of the late George Wilmer and Elizabeth Gue Yorty.
Mr. Yorty was a graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was employed at McGraw-Edison as an industrial spray painter for 27 years.
Mr. Yorty was a member of Washington Wesleyan Methodist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, watching the Penguins and Steelers, spending time with his family and going to Cedar Point every year.
On June 27, 1964, he married Sharon Post, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Richard Yorty Jr. of Washington, Robert (Cherry) Yorty of Washington and Scott Jason (Wakana) Yorty of Upper St. Clair; a brother, George (Helen) Yorty of La Plata, Md.; a sister, Beverly (Paul) Lasko of Marianna; four grandchildren, Nathaniael, Lana and Logan Yorty and Richard Unrue; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Ronald Yorty; and a sister, Norma Jean Carrico.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of services, Saturday, November 4, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. Burial will be held later in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
