Robbie L. Hemmings

Robbie L. “Bob” Hemmings, 68, of Montgomery, Ala., passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017.

He was born March 27, 1949, in Monongahela, a son of John and Mary Herrington Hemmings.

After graduating from Ringgold High School, Mr. Hemmings enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and was an active serviceman until retiring in 1988. His Air Force career took him to many places including Thailand, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Arizona, Las Vegas, Nev., Michigan and, finally, to Alabama. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued to work in logistical civil service on Gunter Air Force Base.

He and his wife, Sandy, were Auburn football season ticket holders and enjoyed spending fall Saturdays in Auburn walking around and watching football.

Surviving are daughter Stacie (Patrick) Haynes and granddaughters Mary Alice and Lily Haynes, all of Roswell, Ga.; three brothers, Lee, Harold and George Hemmings; five sisters, Peggy Pohts, Alice Ingram, Ruth MacDougall, Carol Lee and Donna Pocky; and nieces and nephews by the dozens around the country.

In addition to his parents, deceased are his wife of 44 years, Sandra L. Hemmings, who died August 29, 2017; brothers John, Dave, Herb, Don, Skip and Paul Hemmings; and sister Shirley Seighman.

A memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Hemmings will be held at noon Saturday, November 4, in Crossroads Ministries/Library Baptist Church, 81 Walter Long Road, Finleyville, PA 15332, with military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
