Roy Junior Leichty
Roy Junior Leichty, 84, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully at 8:35 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, in his home.
He was born November 19, 1933, in Accident, Md., a son of the late Roy J. and Freda Bowser Leichty.
He lived most of his life in the Muse area and was a member of Muse Independent Club.
Mr. Leichty was Methodist.
He served with the U.S. Army with the 2nd Recon Squad, 10th Cavalry.
Mr. Leichty was employed at the former Forbes Steel Corp., until its closing. Prior to his retirement as a skilled carpenter, he was employed for many years with Leichty Construction Co.
Mr. Leichty was an avid hunter and fisherman.
On September 22, 1956, he married Mary D. Tatano, who survives. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together.
Also left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Diana Dellorso and husband Edward of Cecil, Roseanne Suitor of Brownsville, Darlene Monaco and husband Michael of South Park and Roy J. Leichty and wife Shelly of Canonsburg; seven grandsons; three great-grandsons; a sister, Joyce Gregg and husband Buddy of Eighty Four; a brother, Mark Leichty of Houston; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, David A. Leichty, Roger L. Leichty and Dale D. Leichty, and a sister, Bonnie Reese.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, Darla Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township, with full military rites accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
