Leona M. Spencer, 83, of New Eagle, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in her home.
She was born February 20, 1935, in Courtney, a daughter of George W. and Mildred A. Leach Mountain.
Leona was a member of Mingo Creek Presbyterian Church in Finleyville. She retired from Fife Heating in Venetia, where she was employed for 10 years as a receptionist. Prior to retirement, she worked for Bastian Homes in McMurray and owned and operated Lee’s Restaurant in Eighty Four.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Leona is survived by two daughters, Becky Williams and husband Bill of Monongahela and Vickie and husband Jay Schmalzried of Eighty Four; two sons, David and wife Kathleen Spencer of Finleyville, Scott Spencer and Natalie Nochese of New Eagle; nine grandchildren, Joe Bowers, Nicole Carter, Jeff and Brian Spencer, Jennifer Spencer Lewis, Bethany Williams, Bailey Schmalzried, Bella Le and Thatcher LeRoy Spencer; eight great-grandchildren, Chloe and Brynn Carter, Joey Bowers, Campbell and Allison Bracher, Derek Lewis, Lilly Spencer and Luke Spencer; sister Mary E. and husband Gordon Davis of Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Spencer, who died December 4, 2005.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, with the Rev. James B. Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery, Finleyville.
