Patricia Ann Helicke Davis
Patricia Ann “Patti” Helicke Davis, 75, of Houston, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, following a brave and valiant fight against cancer.
Patti was born February 8, 1943, a daughter of Ann Furman and William T. Silvers and Joseph Helicke of Washington.
She was a 1961 graduate of Washington High School. She later studied at Point Park Junior College. She was a cheerleader throughout high school and college.
Patti worked for Royal Travel and Trans World Airlines early in her career. She later worked at Northwest Airlines, from where she eventually retired as a customer service agent. The travel industry allowed her to do two of her favorite things: travel throughout the world and meet new people. She never met someone with whom she couldn’t strike up a conversation.
In 1977, Patti married Robert “Peanuts” Davis, who is deceased. Together, they enjoyed golfing, dining out and traveling. They were members of Washington Country Club, where they golfed and socialized for many years. They were a fun-loving couple who taught everyone around them not to postpone the things you enjoy.
Patti was a fantastic cook who loved having parties and entertaining her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and anything crafty. She was also an avid gardener and a member of Martha Washington Garden Club. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and delighted in their accomplishments.
When Patti walked into a room, it lit up with her laughter and warmth. She had a special gift for silliness, to the entertainment of those around her. Of everything in the world, Patti loved to laugh with her friends and family.
Surviving are her daughters, Dawn Predmore (Patrick Putorti) of Upper St. Clair and Dana Davis (Colleen Henning) of Crafton; her beloved brothers, Joseph A. (Deborah) Helicke and James A. (Mary) Helicke, both of Washington; her grandchildren, Isabella, Sofia, Ian and Luciana Putorti and Ali Mwambazi; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. Augustine Wayii as celebrant. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. Interment will be held privately in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, where Patti will be laid to rest next to her late husband.
The family suggests donations be made to The Open Door Inc., P.O. Box 99243, Pittsburgh, PA 15233, a non-profit started by her daughter.
