Elsie Ackley

Elsie Ackley, 76, of Washington, passed away peacefully Friday, April 13, 2018, in Premier Washington Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born September 5, 1941, in Washington, to John and Irene Post Ackley, who preceded her in death.

Ms. Ackley was a cook who worked for various restaurants in the area.

She was an excellent cook, passionate about baking and was known for her black raspberry pies, which were always perfect. She loved her large family and enjoyed having family get-togethers, where she cooked for everyone. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Sherman “Sonny” Ackley of Washington; stepson Robbie Fox of Martins Ferry, Ohio; brothers Ronnie Ackley and Ernie (Mary Jo) Ackley, both of Waynesburg; three sisters, Mary Shriver, Beverly Desidero (Mike) and Bernice Miller, all of Washington; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her longtime companion, Eugene “Mac” McNamara of Washington.

In addition to her parents, deceased are her brothers Bud, Eddie and Chuck Ackley.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, and Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 18. Interment will be private.
