Wilson A. Renne Jr.

Wilson A. Renne Jr., 79, of Amity, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He was born February 25, 1939, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Dr. Wilson A. and Catherine Moritz Renne.

Mr. Renne graduated from Baldwin High School before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 until 1965, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he went on to University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree. He then worked at St. George Catholic High School in Pittsburgh and Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh, before receiving his master’s degree in special education from Duquesne University in 1973. Mr. Renne finally became employed at Allegheny Intermediate Unit, from where he retired in 2002.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Mr. Renne enjoyed working outside on projects and gardening. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren.

On February 28, 1970, he married Karen Beadling, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Brendan (Lori) Renne of New Cumberland, Brian (Kelly) Renne of Amity, Kevin (Emily) Renne of Pittsburgh and Patrick (Katie) Renne of Washington; a sister, Kathleen (Marvin Thornton) Baggio of Birmingham, Ala.; and nine grandchildren, Dylan, Emma, Morgan, Melia, Tripp, Bode, Becks, Colton and Jude Renne. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. Washington County Marine Corps League will render a service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, April 20, in the funeral home, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, with the Rev. George Chortos as celebrant. Burial will be private in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with full military rites accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and the U.S. Marine Corps.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to Merakey Allegheny Valley School, 1996 Ewings Mill Road, Coraopolis, PA 15108.
