Jean Friend Tallarico
Jean Friend Tallarico, 90, of Washington, died Friday, April 20, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
She was born December 6, 1927, in Washington, a daughter of the late George and Marie McNary Friend.
Mrs. Tallarico lived most of her life in Washington and received her education in Washington schools.
She was a devoted homemaker and, in her younger years, worked at Tygart Valley Glass and then Brockway Glass in Washington.
Mrs. Tallarico was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington. She was past president of Christian Mothers and a member of the Pastoral Council. She also spent many years volunteering for bingos, festivals, fish fries and dinners at the church. In 2009, she was selected for the Pittsburgh Diocese Manifesting the Kingdom award for her many years of committed service to her church.
She was a member of American Legion Post 175 Auxiliary, Pulaski Club and Washington Senior Citizens.
On April 14, 1951, in St. Hilary Church, she married Frank Tallarico, who passed away February 13, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy (David) Miller of Washington and Lori (Joseph) Rodgers of Ijamsville, Md.; five grandchildren, David (Krista) Miller, Brandon (Kristen) Miller and Joseph, Nicholas and Rebecca Rodgers; and three great-grandchildren, Jaden, Kaitlyn and Caleb.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are four brothers, James, Stanley, Harold and Robert Friend.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where departing prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
