Lew Ronald Hellmann

Lew Ronald Hellmann, 86, of Washington, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

He was born November 13, 1931, in Washington, a son of the late Leo Robert Hellmann and Agnes Crawley Hellmann.

Lew was a 1950 graduate of Trinity High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He worked in the maintenance department of Molycorp for 38 years.

Lew was a life member and past commander (1972-73) of Veterans of Foreign Wars 927. He was also a member of Trinity High School Football 1948 Hall of Fame Team and American Legion.

He enjoyed turtle hunting, fishing and playing softball.

On May 22, 1955, he married Betty Jean Ross, who died June 16, 2014.

Surviving are three daughters, Bobbi Rea (Ron) Horn of Washington, Geraldine “Gerry” (Edward) Wyland of Washington and Lou Ann Prosser of Meadow Lands; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Carl Hellmann, and a sister, Edith Hellmann.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
