Diane J. Doherty
Diane J. Doherty, 77, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 22, 2018, in St. Barnabas Health Center, Gibsonia.
She was born October 13, 1940, in Vineland, N.J., to the late Victor “Skeeter” Tulio and Anna Walascuk Passetti.
On August 10, 1963, she married John L. “Jack” Doherty, who passed away February 16, 2013.
She was a graduate of Vineland High School and Glassboro State College.
Mrs. Doherty was a teacher and was in government service for many years. She was a receptionist for Tarquin Real Estate and M and M Publications, until her retirement.
A civic-minded individual, Mrs. Doherty served for many years with Civic Light Opera and the 21 Club of Magee-Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She is survived by her son, John F. Doherty (Patricia E.); daughter Kathleen A. Hardy (W. Scott); grandchildren Jonathan G., Krissa A. and Patrick J. “PJ” Doherty and Elizabeth A. and Kaitlyn S. Hardy; sister Vicki Ann Sturges (Guy P.); and brother Stephen V. Passetti (Linda C.). She was a beloved aunt to six nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, in Church of the Epiphany, 184 Washington Place, Pittsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in the name of Diane J. Doherty to Duquesne University College of Liberal Arts, Attention: James Miller, 600 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 1528,2 or to Church of the Epiphany, 184 Washington Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
