George R. Simmons
George R. Simmons, 97, of Finleyville, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Jefferson Hills.
He was born November 28, 1920, in Library, a son of John and Mary McQuisten Simmons.
Mr. Simmons retired as a welder with the former Fisher Body Works in West Mifflin.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of Henry M. Phillips Lodge 337, F&AM, in Monongahela.
Surviving are a daughter, Georgann Baumgardner and husband Gary of Finleyville; three granddaughters, Kristy (Mike) Guappone, Rachel (Tony) Cecchini and Heather (Roland) Leonguerrero; six great-grandchildren, Violet, Anna, Lori, Anthony, Katie and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his wife, Ann Ambrogi Simmons, who died in November 2008; a daughter, Lorraine Huff; five brothers; and a sister.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m., the time of service, Sunday, April 29, in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, David P. Kegel, director, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. Private interment will be held in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
