Harry Fulmer
Harry Fulmer was born July 14, 1931, and passed peacefully Tuesday, December 5, 2017.
Harry leaves behind his wife, Mary Fulmer of Danville, Calif.; two sons, Kurt and Tim; a daughter, Kim (Bob Normann); and one very special grandson, Izaak Fulmer-Moffat, all residing in Pittsburgh.
Harry retired from teaching and guidance at North Allegheny School District after 37 years of coaching basketball, teaching history, counseling high school students in their post-graduate futures and keeping his co-workers and peers laughing with his wonderful dry wit, sense of humor and antics.
Harry was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He continued to be an avid fisherman and to pitch on senior softball leagues until well into his 80s. He loved caring for his only grandson; from a young age the two of them would rush to see who won the tooth-brushing or shoe-tying contests as he urged Izaak to get ready for school in time to catch the bus. And, of course, his many decades of summer fishing trips to Brigadoon near Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada, cannot be forgotten. Harry and his family spent so many summers there the proprietors of Brigadoon, Russ and Karen, named one of the cottages the “Fulmer’s Killarney.”
Harry is missed by all his friends and family, but he leaves behind a great legacy of being (as they referred to him at the Jewish Assisted Living Center in Danville) a true “mensch.”
In memory of an awesome dad, husband, krampaw, father-in-law, co-worker and friend, Harry Morrison Fulmer, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. Inurnment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
