James F. Byers
James F. Byers, 93, formerly of West Alexander, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, in Stone Pear Pavilion, Chester, W.Va.
James was born March 22, 1925, in Warwood, W.Va., a son of the late Frank Lawson Byers and Ida White.
Also deceased is his wife, Dorothy Lucille Coufman Byers, in April 2010. They were married for 63 years.
James was a carpenter by trade and a member of Local 3 out of Wheeling, W.Va. He was recently recognized for his 70th year as a member.
He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
James leaves behind his children, Richard Byers of Cameron, W.Va., Robert Byers of Graysville, Jeraldine Byers of Chester, Jacqueline Byers of Washington and James (Lizz) Byers of Cameron; and sisters Francis Smith of Sardis, Ohio, and Shirley Barr of Washington.
He will be deeply missed by nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in West Alexander Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Katrina Lewis officiating.
He donated his body to human gift registry at WVU.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Alexander Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion Post 56 in West Alexander.
