Ronald James “Ron” Large, 65, of Monongahela, died unexpectedly Monday, July 30, 2018, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born January 4, 1953, in McKeesport, a son of the late James Robert and Mildred Elizabeth Large.
Ron was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, Class of 1971. He retired with over 20 years of employment working for the road department in Fallowfield Township and also serving as the township’s zoning and code enforcement officer.
At the time of his death, he was serving his first term in office with the board of supervisors in Fallowfield Township and was a lifetime member of Fallowfield Township Fire Department. In addition to his dedication to the community, Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars, cutting the grass on his tractor and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Tresh Large; son Shawn Large and wife Ashley of Monongahela; daughter Crystal Powell and husband Damien of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Peyton and Abigail Powell, and Johnathan Knight; and great-grandson Hayden Zebley.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, with the Rev. William Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth.
