Joan Yvonne Cunningham McAdoo of West Alexander passed away in her home, Sunday, August 12, 2018, with her spouse Henry and her beloved dog, Jake, at her side.

Joan was the daughter of Elzie and Esther Cunningham, both deceased. She was the wife of Henry Allen “Bus” McAdoo; mother of Gary Allen (Vicky), David Lee Sr. (Brenda), Timothy Paul Sr. (Millie) and Julie Ann (McAdoo) Loborec; grandmother of Amanda Finkey (Seth), Mitchell McAdoo (Kimberly), David Lee Jr. (Belinda), Brittany McAdoo, Timothy Paul Jr. (Abby), Travis Allen McAdoo, Rachel Laborec, Michael Laborec Jr., Samantha Eidemiller (Matthew Sr.), Caleb McAdoo and Courtney (Kingston) McAdoo; great-grandmother of Madison McAdoo, Matthew Eidemiller Jr., Ciarra McAdoo, Patrick Finkey, Macie McAdoo, Lilly Eidemiller, Evelyn McAdoo, Andrew Finkey and Joshua (JD) Eidemiller; and sister of Betty Weitzel (John), Donald (Ray) Cunningham, Walter Cunningham (Sue), Armeda King-Wade (Larry) and Leroy Cunningham (Julie).

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are sisters Lorna Leightner (Sonny), Wanda Thomas and Pauline Wilson; brother Charles Cunningham (Mona); and niece Karen Sue King. She had dozens of great-nieces and nephews.

Joan worked at Ohio Valley Medical Center before she was married, and she worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 23 years in the West Alexander and Valley Grove, W.Va. areas. She was a member of West Alexander Fireman’s Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed doing crosswords, gardening and bird watching. She was an avid reader and collector of stamps, coins and dolls.

Caregivers Tori, Geary and Terry, as well as Marci Wright, who always came to help without hesitation when called and Amedisys Hospice, are all appreciated for their compassion and care.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323, 724-663-7373, www.youngfhinc.com. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 16, in the funeral home. Interment to follow at West Alexander Cemetery.
